The first step of salvation is understanding that God loves you and has a plan for you.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life." (John 3:16).
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I (Jesus) have come that they may have life, and that they may
have it more abundantly. (John 10:10).
The problem: Man is sinful and sin separates us from God.
"All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23)
"As it is written: There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They
have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one...Destruction and
misery are in their ways; and the way of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes." (Rom 3:10-18)
The penalty for our sin.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:2)
"Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin
leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?" (Romans 6:16)
The good news (Gospel).
"God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should
perish but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)
What must I do to be saved?
"That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be
saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture
says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame." For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord
over all is rich to all who call upon Him.For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved." (Romans 10:9-13)
Pray in your own words; confess your sins to Jesus and believe what the Scripture says!
The next step.
